happy birthday, captain!
hard to believe this young guy is celebrating a big birthday today!
we're celebrating with a nice dinner out followed up by mom's peach-blueberry pie... a long standing tradition. my dad's birthday always fell during my sessions at camp when i was growing up, so my folks would come down for a picnic around then to celebrate. somehow my mom always managed to transport the perfect pie (and sometimes even ice cream!) to share & celebrate. while i've made this delicious pie at least once per summer in recent years, i'm looking forward to enjoying her classic pie again now. i've been fortunate to celebrate the big birthday with each of my parents this year, and i'm so happy about it!
