Best of 2010- Year in Review

2010 will be remembered for:
  • an early january powder day in holy bowl.
  • homemade funfetti frosting for my 26th birthday.
  • the excitement of the olympics! particularly celebrating steamboat olympians.
  • the passing of grandmommy in march. a sad thing in itself, but early 2010 was filled with wonderful conversations, cards, netflix & notes between us.
  • blustery beach walks with gran in april & september.
  • my first viewing of the boston marathon! and my dearest college friend.
  • a new found love for brussel sprouts and kale.
  • nights on bicycles. days on bicycles.
  • a rainy trip to nyc full of pedis, cheesy movies, amazing food, and my very best friend.
  • reconnecting with my yoga practice, and loving it.
  • celebrating the union of v & mort in vermont in may. being reunited with my loves.
  • camping & hiking to gilpin lake with kate waite.
  • ongoing explorations in the culinary world.
  • the end of the alpaca era.
  • boys. after years of my closest friends primarily being girls, my steamboat world is full of boys. really wonderful. appreciate boys.
  • surprising my mother at the doorstep for her 60th birthday.
  • mambo's happy hours.
  • five round-trip flights, comprising of sixteen separate airplanes.
  • a smattering of delightful concerts: five free concerts at howelsen, bearfoot bluegrass, yonder mtn string band, michael franti & spearhead, patty larkin & lucy kaplansky, many a missed the boat show.
  • 2010 has been the year of the local. i finally feel known in this community, and it feels like i have friends everywhere i go!

today i made a small donation to vassar college in her memory.
here we are in our vassar hats circa 2004.

i like this.

merry christmas.

christmas tree 2010.

christmas eve gathering with my steamboat fam at my apartment.

christmas cookie making & decorating on xmas night with the boys.

grateful for beautiful friends, generous family, feasts of foods, laughter, sparkling cider, champagne, ribbons, scotch tape, cozy sweaters, new friends, and comfort. thank you to those who played a role in my holiday. lots of love to all. xo

jenna, this is for you.

"few people know how to take a walk. the qualifications are endurance, plain clothes, old shoes, an eye for nature, good humor, vast curiosity, good speech, good silence and nothing too much."
-ralph waldo emerson
wish we could meet for a chatty stroll after work today. xo
holy snow.

a "pineapple express" weather pattern is hitting colorado (i didn't make that up!) and we are just getting dumped on out here. 15 inches in 48 hours and that wasn't even the beginning of it! powder day saturday, powder day sunday, rejuvinate-the-legs day monday, and then i managed to sneak in a few fresh laps this morning before work. phewph! it's not about to let up, either. white christmas is an understatement!

solo bluebird friday

powder day saturday with the ladies!

complete with hazie's bloodies (and a mimosa for mol)

and such lovely snow!

2010 christmas tree hunt.

saturday in steamboat.

all before 9:

  • one hour of serious sweat
  • sloppy slippery snow
  • a latte & chocolate croissant!!!
  • newspaper reading
  • oncoming sniffles

Winter Song

lovelies- have you ever heard anything so beautiful? it actually made me tear up this morning. i am loving it. new favorite holiday song. xo

glorious weekend.

what a delightful weekend. (photos to follow)

friday night: great crew for happy hour, delicious salad.

saturday: breakfast burrito, incredible demo skis, fresh snow, hazie's bloodies, afternoon sunshine, apres at t bar, dance rehearsal, an 8:1 ratio for pasta dinner.

sunday: a great tree hunt on buff pass, oyster soup, tree decorating, dance rehearsal (super bad = super fun), grateful dead & craft time, hot dog the movie.

oh sweet friday.

  • 6:30 yoga. practice dedicated to my five.
  • cranberry granola bagel with pumpkin cream cheese. like pie for breakfast.
  • newspaper perusing.
  • fund agreements. all day long.
  • impulse shopping.
  • mumford & sons pandora.
  • due to said early yoga, a lack of a belt, and accidentally wearing these cozy things on my feet. perhaps i took casual friday one step too far?
  • clementines. three of them.
  • jumbo snowflakes out my window.
  • a new music discovery.
  • happy hour plans with my favorite boys of the boat then early to bed so i can hit up the fresh snow in the morning!
happy weekend, lovelies. hope it's a grand one. xo
